Hayter lawnmowers has been awarded the Royal Warrant for good reason, this brand is renowned for producing British manufactured premium lawn mowers over the past 75 years.
Starting as a small cottage business, Douglas Hayter has helped create one of the UK’s most widely respected manufacturers of rear roller lawnmowers thanks to his pioneering vision. The British household brand's early beginning is a unique and memorable story. Douglas had a strong affection for engineering and conceptualised the rotary lawnmower after seeing a 100-year old horse-drawn rotary mower in the London Science Museum. Soon after seeing this he crafted a mower frame by hand and combined this with a second hand two-stroke engine. By the following day, the very first Hayter lawnmower was created, fitted with a dustbin lid over the rotor. His first rotary lawn mower was subsequently sold to Ipswich Town and since that day, the company has gone from strength to strength with an ever-increasing and improving stock of Hayter lawnmowers which are commonly used by both domestic and professional gardeners.
The unrivalled British quality, innovation and craftsmanship has remained a crucial part of the brands DNA. Coupled with the Royal Warrant that was awarded in 1960 for the supply of horticultural equipment to Her Majesty the Queen at Sandringham Estate, this brand has continued to manufacture premium garden machinery to the highest standards. Impressively, much of the Hayter lawnmower range is still crafted and produced within Britain, with a large workforce employed at the company headquarters in Spellbrook, Hertfordshire.
Nowadays, Hayter lawnmowers are engineered to combine the traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to deliver some of the best garden maintenance equipment available. A great example of this is the innovative Sens-a-Speed system that can be activated to maintain a constant speed whilst mowing the lawn, making it less fatigable for the user.
Horace Fuller are proud to stock and supply some of the Hayter lawnmower range such as the iconic 56 and 48 model, both featuring the rear-roller capability of providing a beautiful striped finish to lawns of various shapes and sizes.
