We are proud to successfully achieve 100 years in operation. As a generational family business there has been a lot of change and evolution, with demands from consumers changing overtime and technologies updating. Keeping up to date with the latest machinery and striving to stay ahead of the curve is a challenge we have embraced and would like to think it is one of many reasons as to why we are able to mark 2022 as our 100th year of business.
Some of you might be unfamiliar with our story up until now so here is a brief recap…
The Horace Fuller 100 Year Story:
- 1922 - Horace Fuller Ltd. first established and was the force behind the creation of the first mechanical seed drill in the UK. This drill aimed to help transform the speed and efficiency at which farmers across the UK could plant seeds for their crops.
- 1945 - Becoming an ever-present and reliable name in the agricultural industry, we expanded by adding a fleet of vans into our service. This provided us with the opportunity to provide a door to door service to more consumers at once within the farming industry. We soon found ourselves servicing most of the South of England.
- 1960s - With our main operating centre based in Horsham, West Sussex, we began to expand our operations by purchasing the acquisition of Burgess & Randall in neighbouring town, Pulborough. Newly introduced policies began to put a quota limit on agricultrual business suppliers like ourselves and many others, so the new era of stocking & supplying mowers was included into the business model.
- 1980s - We successfully managed to continue our expansion through the recession and grew our sponsorship of local clubs within the next two decades.
- 2000s - Originally speclialsing in the supply of mowers as we diverged away from an agriucltural focus, the early part of the “noughties” saw us expand our garden machinery collection with the additions of chainsaws, strimmers, and much more. We also focused on evolving our Garden and Estate Management side of the business for ~15+ years.
- 2009 - We opened up a new branch in Redhill, Surrey, expanding our outreach to consumers across parts of the South East of England. We also continued to emphasise our focus on repairs & servicing of garden machinery courtesy of our team of experienced, specialised staff.
- 2017 - The fourth branch was opened in Turners Hill through the incorporation of Ray Fosters Forest and Graden Machinery.
