The Company History
Horace Fullers Ltd. was established in 1922, and first began manufacturing and developing the Fuller Seed Drill™, this was the first mechanical seed drill in the UK. This naturally lead to and agricultural beginning, and formed the first era of the Horace Fullers story.
Having proved to be dominant in this industry Horace Fullers expanded a fleet of vans that provided a door to door service to the farming community. After 1945 this dramatically expanded and we were servicing most of the South.
Later when CAP (the common agricultural policy) was formed with the joining of the old EEC, the quotas put on the farming industry caused business to suffer. The Butter Mountains and Milk Lakes were a thing of the past.
New ideas were considered, and the present MD was the founder of the next era; Lawn Mowers. Mr.Stally, successfully integrated mowers into the firm, whilst still maximising sales through the agricultural side.
Through this difficult time Horace Fullers started to expand, even during the recession we retain all our staff. The present era has been dominate by a new department started by the MD eldest son. Following in his father's footsteps he successfully integrated Model Cars into the structure. This up and coming department now has some six staff from it original one.
However it does not end here just recently Mr S.J.Atkinson has embarked on a new project which will take us into the year 2000 and beyond. GEM, Garden & Estate Management, this new department has shown much promise, with it already after only three weeks taking on more staff to cope with the demand for this service.
